EVEN IF ITS TRUE, WE STILL LOVE ROO

It seems as though Manchester United's Wayne Rooney has joined the growing list of ill-famed footballers after his alleged affair on his wife hit the tabloids.

Last night, stories surfaced about Rooney's infidelities during his wife's, Coleen, pregnancy of their child last year, which will more than likely change his life forever.

Whether these claims end up being true or not, Rooney's reputation is more than likely tarnished as he may have stooped as low as Ashley Cole, John Terry and David Beckham in cheating on their wives.

Rooney's image has taken a real beating in the last couple of months - ranging from his poor performances at the 2010 FIFA World Cup to his infamous outburst [following England's dull nil-nil draw with Algeria] to being caught smoking, but all of those seem quite minute compared to what he is about to go through now.

The world saw what happen to Tiger Woods' fame and success when his unfaithfulness was revealed. Woods went from the greatest sports role models to one of the most hated men in a matter of moments as numerous prostitutes came forward to derail him mentally.

Obviously, Rooney has not been his normal self for first part of United's 2010/11 season either, and he does not look like he is enjoying the sport he said he would play for free - especially when it seems as though something more significant is weighing on his mind.

This unneeded dilemma may have already cost the United, because Rooney, who rarely misses a match, missed the trip to Craven Cottage with an apparent illness as the Reds drew 2-2 with Fulham. Now that excuse seems as it was just a cover up for him to deal with this growing personal matter, because this is the same player that played with damaged ankle ligaments against Bayern Munich last season.

Ferguson is an old school manager that believes that players should settle down and get married, which has helped some of his players focus on their football rather than the partying scene, but at the same time these players are constantly faced with temptation.

Footballers are arrogant by nature, so with that said, they think that they can do whatever they want, whenever they want and never suffer the consequence of their decisions.

Even the pristine Ryan Giggs has been known for his infidelity escapades, so this is not uncommon in the football, but the hope is that Rooney will let his football do the talking.

Sir Alex will more than likely sit the 24-year old down and have one of his fatherly talks to help get his head right, because he has a long, tough road ahead of him.

Rooney is very fortunate to have a manager like Ferguson, because the hard-nosed, straight-forward Scot cares about the images and reputation of each and every single one of his players, because in the end it reflects on him.

Another thing that will help Rooney during this trying time is the unwavering adoration by the true United supporters. As they have done with previous cheats, the nation will more than likely turn their back on and raise their noses at him, but the Old Trafford faithful will love him the same way they did when he first arrive from Everton - as long as he does not allow this situation to effect him on the field.

Paul Scholes is the one model professional that all modern-day footballers should aspire to be, because he has shown the proper balance between fame and family. Like Rooney, the 35-year old midfielder married his childhood love, but he has shown the ability to resist the negative influence of some of his friends and stay away from the party life.

It has been said that Wayne Rooney has grown up a lot faster than most players his age, and if that holds to be true, then he will handle this speculation with maturity and make sure that he does not allow it to effect his performances for Manchester United.
