DOWNED IN MEXICO

Manchester United's five-stop tour of North America came to an end with a 3-2 loss against Club Deportivo Guadalajara at the new Estadio Omnilife, but they have one of their own players to blame for the defeat.

United's newest sensation, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, started the game off brightly by scoring the opening goal of the match - but it was for his former club.

That lead, though, was short-lived, because another new signing for United, Chris Smalling, grabbed his first goal for the club with a well-taken header from a corner.

United were being run ragged by the Chivas forwards, and they finally restored their lead a few minutes before halftime when Adolfo Bautista scored from close range.

As promised, Chicharito played for both clubs, and, without question, he showed the promising talent which prompted Sir Alex Ferguson to act quickly to get his signature.

The young Mexican international took one of his three great chances in the first 25 minutes, but he remained a constant threat for the rest of the half.

At the start of the second-half, Sir Alex replaced Dimitar Berbatov with Hernandez with what could be a reoccurring theme for the upcoming season. Chicharito only played 20 minutes of the second period for United, but that was still enough for a golden chance for him to score - but unfortunately he screwed his shot wide of the far post.

Héctor Reynoso doubled the Goats lead 12 minutes after the break with a well-placed header - which was the second set piece goal that United allowed in the game.

The inconsistency of the defenders throughout this match will definitely worry the Gaffer, because when a team concedes from a set piece, it usually means that there was loose marking which is usually caused by lack of concentration.

United were able to pull one back following a great passing movement between Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck. The move look like it was over, but some how the ball squirmed through to Nani, and the winger made no mistake and slotted the ball inside the far post.

Nani's goal made the scoreline somewhat respectable, but United were not good enough on the day and the back-four should again be the worrying part for Sir Alex.

Matchball
Young Tom Cleverley is giving Sir Alex a real headache to either loan him out this season or not, because his last two performances have been solid.

Against Chivas, the 20-year old showed his lightning-quick pace and was one of the United players that were troubling the Goats, and like he has done all tour, he was able to play either through the middle or out wide on either wing.

Manchester United might have slumped to another defeat on their pre-season tour, but Club Deportivo Guadalajara was up for the occasion and young Javier Hernandez made the difference.
