Relief At Exits

Manchester United had six players competing in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but all of their current players have all exited the competition, which must relieve Sir Alex Ferguson.

Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Ji-Sung Park and their newest signing, Javier Hernandez, have all returned home after their respective countries have failed to advance pass the Round of 16.

Ferguson knows how important it is for the players to represent their country, but he also has to be greedy and hope that his players come back unscathed and rested ahead of this coming season.

Rio Ferdinand, who was the England captain, already returned home prior to the World Cup after he picked up a knee injury in a training session.

Unimpressive
A lot of focus and pressure was placed on the shoulders of Rooney to lead England to its second World Cup triumph, but the United frontman seemed disinterested to contribute to their cause.

Following their disappointing 0-0 draw with Algeria, Rooney unleashed at the England supporters after they booed their players.

The outspoken United star blasted the England supporters by saying, "It’s nice to get booed by your own fans. Very loyal."

In contrasting form from his 2009/10 season form, he turned in less than enthusiastic performances in all four of England's matches.

Carrick, Rooney's international teammate, did not feature for Fabio Capello during England's disappointing tournament.

Another United player that was less than his normal tenacious self was Vidic as Serbia finished bottom of their group.

The big central defender was responsible for giving Germany a penalty for inexplicitly handling the ball, but fortunate for him, his goalkeeper spared his blushes with a good save.

One of the most uninspired performances from a United player came from their Evra as France crashed out of the World Cup in a very winnable group.

United's world-class left-back was heavily involved with the controversy that surrounded France's time in South Africa.

Bright
Despite not advancing passed the first knockout phase, Park and Hernandez were bright spots for their respective countries.

The South Korean captain led his country with confidence and a strong will to win, but Park's effort were outdone by former United forward Diego Forlan's Uruguay.

United's latest signing, Hernandez, better known as Chicarito, was one of the darlings of this summer's prestigious competition.

Chicarito scored two goals including the match-winning goal against France, but his movement, speed and natural ability should really excite the United supporters ahead of the season.

Now that the World Cup is over for the Manchester United players, they can all rest up for the 2010/11 season, which Sir Alex Ferguson will need each of these players to perform through out the long, gruelling season.
