Harg Done By

Manchester United is on the verge of welcoming Owen Hargreaves back from his long-term injury nightmare, and that will surely be add even more of a selection headache for Sir Alex Ferguson.

United’s midfield is compromised some of the best players in the English Premier League, but to have Hargreaves back it will add bit of spice to it.

United center midfield is already bolstered with Anderson, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, and surely Hargreaves will add some more competition, but that is not the only position he can play.

Dimension
Hargreaves is very athletic, quick and energetic midfielder that can play in a wide variety of positions for Sir Alex.

And Ferguson has taken full advantage of his abilities, and has slotted him at either right back, out on the wing or at his preferred position in the center of the midfield.

United have lacked crosses and consistency down the flanks this season following the departure of irreplaceable Cristiano Ronaldo, but Hargreaves can provide ample enough quality to that position.

Another reason Sir Alex opts to play him in wider positions is that he has the ability and desire to track attacking fullbacks.

Controversy
The Canadian-born midfielder was one of the most controversial signings for Sir Alex, because the saga went on for well-over a year, but he finally got his man.

The England international signed in the summer of 2007 for £17 million from Bayern Munich, but it was not a straightforward signing that is for sure.

The German giants were very reluctant to the let Hargreaves go, because he was an integral part of their success.

Significant
Owen missed the majority of the 2008/09 season with a nagging knee problem, that he had for the past few seasons, so the United team doctors and physios decided that surgery was the only option for him.

Due to injury, Hargreaves has only made 37 appearances for United in his short career at Old Trafford, but during his time on the field, he has showed the promise and the makings to be a top-class player.

He also scored two remarkable free kicks during the back end of the 2007/08 season, but his dramatic winner against Arsenal is the one that will forever live in the minds of all United supporters.

He also scored one of the decisive penalties against which earned United the 2007/08 Champions League trophy!

Getting the England international back to full fitness will be like a new signing, and United supporters should really start to see United kick into full gear with his addition to the squad.
